Motorists are advised to refuel promptly as domestic refined oil prices are slated for a fresh adjustment at midnight on Friday, August 28th, with market signals strongly indicating that an increase is now a near certainty.

On August 27th, which marked the ninth working day of the current pricing cycle, the projected rise in fuel costs narrowed slightly due to a continued dip in international crude oil prices. According to JLC Network Technology's calculations, the average price of reference crude oil varieties stood at $88.13 per barrel as of August 27th, reflecting a change rate of 6.65%. This has led to a projected increase of 360 yuan per tonne for domestic retail gasoline and diesel prices.

Based on the current anticipated increase, the cost of gasoline and diesel is expected to climb by between 0.27 yuan and 0.33 yuan per liter. Data from the SCI99 monitoring model, based on closing prices on August 26th, shows a reference crude oil change rate of 8.18% on the ninth working day. This model projects a 360 yuan per tonne increase for both gasoline and diesel, which translates to price hikes of approximately 0.28 yuan for 92# gasoline, 0.30 yuan for 95# gasoline, and 0.31 yuan for 0# diesel per liter.

Once this retail ceiling price adjustment is confirmed, a private car owner filling up a standard 50-liter tank of 92# gasoline will need to spend an additional 14 yuan. So far this year, domestic refined oil prices have undergone a total of sixteen adjustments, comprising ten increases, five decreases, and one instance where the change was suspended, with the net effect of these fluctuations resulting in a cumulative increase.

Looking ahead, the 2026 price adjustment calendar is already published, and market participants will continue to monitor global oil market dynamics for future pricing directions.
