Haichang Ocean Park 2025 ESG Report: Wastewater Down 8.75%, Animal Survival 95.5%, Zero Safety Incidents

Haichang Ocean Park Holdings released its ninth ESG report, covering performance from 1 January – 31 December 2025 across six self-owned theme parks and group headquarters.

Environmental Performance • Greenhouse-gas emissions fell to 86,892.93 tCO₂e (-2.90% YoY), comprising 10,067.44 tCO₂e of Scope 1 and 76,825.50 tCO₂e of Scope 2. • Comprehensive energy use declined to 175,745.81 MWh, or 1.13 MWh per RMB10,000 of revenue. • Wastewater discharge dropped 8.75% to 4.93 million t; total water consumption decreased to 5.52 million t, with 222,064 t saved during the year. • Hazardous waste generation was contained at 1.69 t; non-hazardous waste totalled 8,996.50 t. • Annual environmental targets were met: reductions of 121,000 t wastewater, 212.50 tce energy and 9,900 t water.

Biodiversity & Animal Welfare • Large-animal survival rate reached 95.5%. • First-time captive breeding successes included West African manatees and chinstrap penguins; in total 36 individuals of 12 large polar-marine species were bred. • Introduced new species such as African fur seals and spotted dolphins to enhance genetic diversity. • Over 100 marine animals have been rescued in cooperation with authorities; the group completed China’s first rescue and release of a rough-toothed dolphin.

Occupational Health & Safety • No work-related fatalities; zero major production-safety liability incidents. • Lost-time injury days totalled 2,306. • Invested RMB 0.87 million in safety initiatives and ran 623 emergency drills involving 7,641 participants; safety-training coverage reached 100%.

Human Capital • Headcount stood at 3,109, with women representing 47.51%. • Average training hours per employee were 4.85; 5,607 employees received training during the year. • Employee welfare initiatives included regular health checks, interest-based clubs, quarterly birthday events and festival activities.

Supply-Chain Governance • 1,882 suppliers (1,872 domestic, 10 overseas); 100% signed integrity agreements. • A supplier-classification system and performance-rating mechanism are in place, with hazardous-waste, environmental and labour-standards compliance embedded in onboarding and review.

Corporate Governance & Compliance • Anti-fraud framework strengthened through a new Anti-Fraud Policy and multi-channel whistle-blowing system; no corruption-related litigation occurred. • Intellectual-property management procedures cover full lifecycle control, with coordinated rights-protection actions across all parks.

Climate-Risk Management • In line with TCFD guidance, the group mapped physical and transition risks, integrated emergency plans for extreme weather, and committed to develop quantitative climate targets.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement • 11th annual Charity Month offered free park access to individuals with autism; marine-education outreach reached over 1,000 community residents. • Expanded school-enterprise collaborations with more than 20 institutions; launched “One-Square-Metre Museum” mini-exhibitions in eight schools.

The board approved the report on 31 March 2026, reaffirming Haichang’s commitment to sustainable, low-carbon operations, enhanced animal welfare and inclusive community development.
