Bank of China unveils US$40.00 billion medium-term note programme; HKEX listing slated for 25 Aug 2026

Bank of China Limited (Bank of China) has filed for the listing of a new US$40.00 billion Medium Term Note Programme on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (HKEX), adopting a fiscal-agency structure. The listing is expected to become effective on 25 August 2026, enabling the Bank to issue debt securities to professional investors for a 12-month period ending August 2027, in accordance with Chapter 37 of HKEX Listing Rules.

The programme, arranged and to be dealt in by Bank of China itself, follows a prior announcement on 27 April 2026 regarding an earlier notice of listing. All notes issued under the updated structure will be offered exclusively to professional investors and remain unregistered under the U.S. Securities Act of 1933, thus not for distribution within the United States except as permitted by applicable regulations.

The Board of Directors—comprising Executive Director Ge Haijiao; Non-executive Directors Zhang Hui, Liu Jin, Cai Zhao, Zhang Yong, Huang Binghua, Liu Hui, Shi Yongyan, Lou Xiaohui and Li Zimin; and Independent Non-executive Directors Jean-Louis Ekra, Giovanni Tria, Liu Xiaolei, Zhang Ran, Ko Margaret and Woo Chin Wan Raymond—approved the announcement on 24 August 2026.
