Shares of innovative drug companies in Hong Kong are trading broadly higher on Tuesday, fueled by bullish clinical data presented at a major oncology conference and renewed optimism around policy support for the sector.

As of the latest update, INNOCARE (09969) jumped 10.78% to HK$15.00, while AKESO (09926) advanced 5.37% to HK$95.15. 3SBIO (01530) rose 4.60% to HK$16.15, SBP GROUP (01177) gained 3.62% to HK$5.44, and INNOVENT BIO (01801) climbed 2.67% to HK$96.05.

Market sentiment was lifted following the 2026 World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC), held from September 12 to 15, where multiple Chinese innovative drug developers presented pivotal clinical results. Notably, AKESO's overall survival data for its dual-specific antibody, ivonescimab, and its B7H3-ADC candidate drew significant attention as key highlights.

In parallel, the 2026 national medical insurance drug list negotiations have concluded, with progress also being made on a separate reimbursement channel for commercial insurance-backed innovative drugs. These developments have strengthened expectations for payment-side reforms, reinforcing the dual growth narrative of "overseas commercialization and improved reimbursement dynamics."

Brokerage firm Zhongtai Securities noted that the concentrated release of lung cancer clinical data at WCLC further validates the clinical value and global competitiveness of Chinese innovative drugs. The firm suggested that investors may consider actively seizing the opportunity presented by the recent pullback in the sector's valuations.

Industry analysts broadly believe that with new orders from several companies entering the revenue recognition phase in the third quarter, fundamentals are poised for continued improvement. The healthcare sector is currently trading at a price-to-earnings ratio of approximately 27 times, below its historical average, which analysts argue makes the post-correction valuation increasingly attractive for long-term positioning.
