Reports from Changping District indicate that this year marks a significant bumper apple harvest, with both the quality and quantity of the produce seeing improvements. In addition to apples, Cuicun is enhancing its offerings with the “Zhenshun Apple Feast,” apple-themed streets, cycling stations, and leisure plazas, exploring new pathways for integration of agriculture, culture, tourism, sports, and commerce.
Cuicun holds the renowned title of "First Town of Apples in Suburb Beijing" and is the core area for the nationally recognized geographical indication product, “Changping Apples.” The town features a 55% mountainous area and a 45% plain area, representing a typical semi-mountainous town. Thanks to the unique microclimate protected by the Yanshan Mountains and superior sunlight and soil conditions, the apples produced in Cuicun, especially varieties like Fuji and Wanglin, are well-known for their perfect shape, vibrant color, and crisp, juicy sweetness.
The town promotes high-quality development in the apple industry through the "Three Quality Projects," focusing on variety improvement, quality enhancement, and brand creation. Data shows that in 2024, the area dedicated to apple cultivation in Cuicun reached 4,311.6 acres, with a production of 4,426 tons and a total output value of 37.685 million yuan. This year, it is indeed a significant harvest year, with quality and yield both on the rise. Within the core production areas such as Zhenshun Village and Bajia Village, standardized demonstration orchards connect seamlessly.
The town has successfully registered the trademark "Cuicun Red" and has crafted a unique "Zhenshun Apple Feast" featuring 26 specialty dishes over three years, bringing apples from the fields to the dining tables of the people, extending the industrial chain and enhancing added value. Meanwhile, Cuicun is actively exploring new pathways for the integration of agriculture, culture, tourism, sports, and commerce. In spring, the peach blossoms cover the mountains, and in autumn, the fragrance of fruits fills the air, attracting numerous visitors to the apple-themed streets, cycling stations, and leisure plazas set up in the 6,000 acres of standardized orchards.
In 2024, the town received over 300,000 visitors, stimulating consumption exceeding 53 million yuan. Formerly abandoned factories have been transformed into the 1983 Creative Industry Park, and the old village committee has been remodeled into the “Oaktree Valley” book café and cultural creative space, making the apple a true “golden business card” for Cuicun to showcase its rural character and promote overall consumption.
