China Everbright Signals 70%–80% Slide in H1 2026 Profit amid Softer PE Gains, Higher Impairments

07/30

China Everbright Limited reported a sharp deterioration in interim earnings, cautioning shareholders that profit attributable to equity holders for the six months ended 30 June 2026 is projected to fall by approximately 70%–80% from the HK$399.00 million recorded a year earlier. Management’s preliminary estimates place first-half profit in a range of roughly HK$79.80 million to HK$119.70 million.

The decline is primarily driven by two factors: 1. Lower net investment income from private-equity portfolios, reflecting weaker market performance and reduced realisation gains. 2. A rise in impairment losses on advances to customers, which added further pressure to the bottom line.

The figures are based on unaudited management accounts and remain subject to review by the board’s Audit and Risk Management Committee and the external auditor. The company plans to publish its full unaudited interim results by the end of August 2026.

China Everbright advised investors to exercise caution when trading its shares pending the release of the detailed financial statements.
