On Tuesday, the US metals and mining sector experienced widespread declines.

Shares of Freeport-McMoRan (FCX.US) fell more than 7%, while Alcoa Corp (AA.US) dropped nearly 6%.

Southern Copper Corp (SCCO.US) declined over 5%, and Century Aluminum Co (CENX.US) was down 4%.

BHP Group Ltd (BHP.US) shares fell close to 4%, with Rio Tinto Ltd (RIO.US) dropping more than 3%.

Vale SA (VALE.US) also saw a decline of over 2%.
