Hong Kong Stocks Open Lower, JD.com Drops 3%; Alibaba Falls 2%

On November 6, 2024, the Hong Kong stock market opened lower. The Hang Seng Index (HSI) fell by 1.02%, the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI) dropped by 1.09%, the Hang Seng Tech Index (HSTECH) decreased by 1.01%, and the Hang Seng China-Affiliated Corporations Index (HSCCI) declined by 0.40%.


In terms of sectors, the blockchain concept stocks in Hong Kong saw a notable increase, with a rise of 2.10%. The electrical equipment sector also performed well, increasing by 1.84%. On the other hand, the internet technology sector in Hong Kong experienced a decline of 1.06%, and the insurance sector fell by 1.36%.

BYD ELECTRONIC rose by 1.46%.

TENCENT fell by 0.65%. Goldman Sachs released a research report predicting a potential return of around 20% for Chinese A-shares and H-shares over the next 12 months, citing further strengthening of China's macroeconomic growth and the key role of consumer-oriented industries in profit upgrades.

GTJA surged by 2.25%. Guotai Junan and Haitong Securities announced a merger and restructuring, which has been approved by the Shanghai Municipal Government. Following the announcement, Guotai Junan's A-shares rose by 2.8%, and its H-shares increased by 5.77%; Haitong Securities' A-shares rose by 3.76%, and its H-shares increased by 4.28%.

CSC saw a significant rise of 3.65%. Senior management personnel of CITIC Securities, Zou Yingguang and Zhang Zhibin, resigned from their positions as executive directors due to job changes. Additionally, Mr. Lin Rida from Guanglian Engineering Holdings resigned as chairman of the board, and Huadong Cable held a board meeting.

HAITONG SEC increased by 1.98%. Guotai Junan and Haitong Securities announced a merger and restructuring, which has been approved by the Shanghai Municipal Government. Following the announcement, Guotai Junan's A-shares rose by 2.8%, and its H-shares increased by 5.77%; Haitong Securities' A-shares rose by 3.76%, and its H-shares increased by 4.28%.

BILIBILI-W rose by 0.55%. Bilibili's new game "Three Strategies" showed strong revenue performance, with expected game revenue in the third quarter increasing by 67% year-on-year, and the advertising business continued to grow.

UBTECH ROBOTICS increased by 1.75%. UBTECH, together with its smart logistics subsidiary UQI, launched a full-stack unmanned logistics solution at the 2024 Asia Shanghai International Logistics Exhibition, integrating humanoid robots and unmanned vehicles for collaborative operations, which have been applied in BYD factories.

BABA-W fell by 1.93%. Goldman Sachs released a research report predicting a potential return of around 20% for Chinese A-shares and H-shares over the next 12 months, citing further strengthening of China's macroeconomic growth and the key role of consumer-oriented industries in profit upgrades.

SUNAC dropped by 2.21%. Sunac China achieved a contract sales amount of approximately RMB 7.33 billion in October 2024, an annual increase of nearly 54%. As of the end of October 2024, Sunac China had achieved a cumulative contract sales amount of approximately RMB 43.78 billion.

GREENTOWN CHINA rose by 0.57%. Greentown China announced that its total contract sales amount for the first ten months was approximately RMB 215 billion, a year-on-year decrease of 3.5%.

GUOQUAN surged by 6.44%. Guoquan announced that, considering the market conditions, the company plans to repurchase H-shares in the open market with its own funds, up to a maximum of HKD 100 million, from November 6, 2024, until the expiration of the repurchase authorization. The board believes that the current share price does not fully reflect the company's intrinsic value and business prospects, and the repurchase will demonstrate the company's and management team's confidence in the company's business development prospects and growth potential, ultimately benefiting the company and creating value for shareholders.

IMOTIONAUTOTECH rose by 2.57%. Imotion Auto Tech proposed to appoint KPMG as its auditor, with PwC resigning as the company's auditor.
