Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (Z74) announced on May, 21 2026 that it is willing to work with a strategic Australian partner that could take a “meaningful minority stake” in its long-held subsidiary Optus.

The group said it routinely reviews its portfolio and has previously brought in local partners to enhance service quality and performance at overseas units. A similar approach is now being considered for Optus to ensure the mobile operator remains a strong and reliable alternative in the Australian market.

Singtel emphasised that Optus has been a core part of the group for more than 25 years and reiterated its long-term commitment to Australia, including continued efforts with the Optus board and management to strengthen operational resilience and critical-service capabilities.

The company cautioned investors that there is no certainty any transaction will occur and advised them to rely only on official disclosures. Singtel said it will issue further announcements if material developments arise, in line with Singapore Exchange listing requirements.
