Recently, the "Asia No. 10" vessel of Shandong Port Qingdao Port Tugboat Company successfully carried out an emergency rescue operation at the anchorage outside Dongjiakou. At 17:00 on May 8, the "Asia No. 10" received an urgent notification from the Qingdao Port Production Dispatch Command Center. The message stated that on the anchored cargo ship 'ETOILE' at the Dongjiakou outer anchorage, a foreign crew member was suffering from severe leg swelling due to diabetes complications and was unable to walk independently, requiring immediate transfer.
The "Asia No. 10" immediately sprang into action, preparing the vessel and proceeding at full speed towards the incident area. The crew optimized the rescue plan based on real-time sea conditions to ensure the operation was safe, high-quality, and efficient. Arriving alongside the 'ETOILE' at 20:20, the team assessed the variable wind and current conditions on-site. They decided to implement a transfer plan involving "pushing from the leeward side and using a transfer cage."
By 20:50, through coordinated efforts between both vessels, the ill crew member was safely secured in the transfer cage and moved onto the tugboat. The "Asia No. 10" then returned to port at full speed. Personnel on board provided continuous care throughout the journey, monitoring the patient's vital signs, adjusting their lying position, and alleviating pressure on the legs. Simultaneously, they coordinated with port dispatch, traffic control, agents, border control, and an ambulance to establish a green channel for hospital admission.
At 23:00, the "Asia No. 10" berthed at the Dongjiakou East Harbor Basin Tugboat Base and quickly handed over the patient to medical personnel, securing valuable time for subsequent treatment.
