Leveraging its distinctive high-altitude environment characterized by pollution-free air, abundant sunlight, and significant temperature fluctuations between day and night, the Huangzhong District of Xining has been actively advancing the standardization and organic transformation of its vegetable cultivation.

This strategic push aims to cultivate a premium brand of "highland-quality" cool-climate organic vegetables, positioning the region as a key supply hub for such produce. The goal is to establish these eco-friendly, safe, and nutritious vegetables as a hallmark of Huangzhong's modern agricultural development.

During this golden autumn harvest season, the organic planting base of Qinghai Huangshuiqing Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Technology Co., Ltd., located in Lijiashan Town, is bustling with activity. Rows of greenhouses are filled with thriving, carefully managed organic spinach and celery, which are now at their peak harvest time and entering the market.

As a core demonstration site for the region's National Modern Agriculture Industrial Park, the base adheres strictly to organic farming standards, implementing eco-friendly cultivation practices throughout all processes. The production methods prohibit the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Instead, the farm relies on well-rotted organic manure to enhance soil fertility and employs physical pest control, meticulous field management, and ecological regulation techniques to manage diseases and pests. This approach ensures safety from the source, guaranteeing that the vegetables are natural, pollution-free, and of superior quality.

Thanks to the exceptional plateau ecosystem and meticulous field management, the base produces spinach and celery known for their vibrant color, crisp texture, and rich nutritional value. "This year, we have planted 300 mu of organic spinach and 150 mu of organic celery. The current market for organic vegetables is stable with favorable prices and sufficient orders. Our premium products are shipped to major cities like Shenzhen, Xi'an, Chengdu, and Anhui, supplying large supermarkets directly. Our brand's market recognition in other provinces is steadily growing," stated Chang Hui, the company's manager.

The growth of this specialty organic industry has effectively utilized idle rural labor resources, creating local employment opportunities and enabling residents to increase their incomes without leaving home. "I've been working at this base for two months. It's close to home, and I earn 100 yuan per day. Seeing these organic vegetables being shipped out brings us joy and motivates us to work harder," said Chen Xinghua, a villager employed at the base.

Qinghai Huangshuiqing Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Technology Co., Ltd. has now achieved organic certification for five product categories, including spinach, celery, and tomatoes. This accomplishment fills a significant void in Huangzhong District's organic certification record and sets a benchmark for the scaled and diversified growth of its organic vegetable sector.

"In recent years, Huangzhong has aligned with the city's 'green, organic, and high-end' industrial development direction, treating cool-climate organic vegetables as a key driver of high-quality agricultural growth. We are promoting the adoption of high-quality seed varieties suited for the plateau's cool climate, achieving a 98% coverage rate. Simultaneously, we are advocating for technologies like integrated water and fertilizer management and green pest control, with a 96% standardization rate. Currently, the district has registered 23 vegetable trademarks, and 91 vegetable products have obtained green food certificates. These efforts continue to solidify the foundation for the organic vegetable industry's advancement," said Ba Sanjie, Deputy Director of the Huangzhong District Vegetable Technology Service Center.
