Crude Oil Futures on NYMEX Drop Over 5% to Settle at $80.34 Per Barrel

The front-month crude oil futures contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) for September fell $4.33 per barrel today, a decline of 5.11%, settling at $80.34.

This marks the largest single-day drop in both dollar and percentage terms since Monday, July 27, 2026. The price has fallen in five of the last seven trading sessions.

The current settlement is 28.87% below the 52-week high of $112.95, recorded on Tuesday, April 7, 2026. It is 45.36% above the 52-week low of $55.27, set on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Compared to 52 weeks ago, the price is up 21.19%.

Relative to the 2026 settlement high of $112.95 from Tuesday, April 7, 2026, the price has dropped 28.87%. It is 43.49% above the 2026 settlement low of $55.99 from Wednesday, January 7, 2026. The current price is 44.70% below the all-time high of $145.29, reached on Thursday, July 3, 2008.

Year-to-date, crude oil has gained $22.92, or 39.92%. All prices are based on the settlement price of the current front-month contract.
