Nanfeng Town Adds Another National Demonstration Age-Friendly Community

Recently, the Office of the National Working Commission on Aging released the "Public Notice of the Proposed List of National Demonstration Age-Friendly Communities," and Jiannong Village in Nanfeng Town, Zhangjiagang City, made the list, fully demonstrating the results of Zhangjiagang's high-quality development of elderly care services.

Facing the real challenges of a high degree of aging, villagers living in scattered settlement patterns, and difficult service coverage, Jiannong Village in Nanfeng Town has actively explored a "combination of medical care and elderly care, aging in place" model. It upgraded the village's barrier-free facilities, rented and renovated private houses, and raised funds from multiple sources to build five "Hefangju" home-based elderly care service stations; implemented a tiered meal assistance policy under which people aged 80 and above enjoy free meal assistance, and delivered various convenient support services in a practical manner; relied on a digital health care platform to establish a "one person, one file" record for elderly residents, implemented refined ABCD five-level tiered management, and carried out classified door-to-door visits and care; and deeply developed the "companion acre field" mutual-aid elderly care project, guiding elderly people to participate in grassroots governance and cultural and sports activities, fostering a culture of respecting the elderly and promoting kindness, and creating a model of inclusive rural aging in place.

Next, Nanfeng Town will continue to advance the development of age-friendly communities, improve an inclusive, equal, convenient, high-quality, smart, and warm elderly care service system, and help the city's aging cause and elderly care services achieve higher-quality development.
