Trump Campaign Holds Strategy Session as Polls Dip, Maps Out Deployment of Hundreds of Millions for Midterms

On Tuesday afternoon, President Trump's key political advisors, both inside and outside the White House, convened a private strategy session. The meeting aimed to analyze polling data, finalize messaging, and outline the overall campaign strategy ahead of the U.S. midterm elections on November 3.

Trump's super PAC and the Republican National Committee hold approximately $530 million in campaign funds. His team is currently deliberating on the timing, geographic targeting, and methods for deploying this substantial war chest. Sources familiar with the matter indicate that, in addition to this, a non-profit "dark money" political organization linked to Trump, the Securing American Greatness Foundation, controls several hundred million dollars more, which is not included in the aforementioned total.

This closed-door meeting was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington, D.C. It is the second in a series of recent regular coordination meetings by the Trump team, designed to align the efforts of the broader Republican Party, its congressional candidates, and Trump's personal political operation. While Trump himself was not scheduled to attend, key figures steering the "America First" (MAGA) movement were all present:

Tony Fabrizio: Trump's chief pollster, tasked with presenting an analysis of the overall midterm election landscape.

James Blair: Trump's operational political director, with full responsibility for executing the midterm election campaign plan.

Susie Wiles: White House Chief of Staff and one of Trump's longest-serving political advisors.

Chris LaCivita: Former co-campaign manager for Trump alongside Wiles.

Joe Gruters: Chairman of the Republican National Committee during Trump's presidency and a long-time political ally of Wiles.

Several cabinet officials (with the exception of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was on official business in Manila).

The Broader Electoral Landscape

Republicans have internally acknowledged significant electoral headwinds. Due to persistently high gas prices and the strain of the U.S.-Iran conflict, Trump's personal approval ratings have sunk to low levels, making it extremely difficult for the GOP to retain control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

However, Trump campaign operatives believe that voters are broadly disenchanted with what they see as the Democratic Party's radical policy overreach. They argue this midterm contest is less about which party voters prefer and more about which party they dislike less. Furthermore, Republicans have undertaken an unprecedented mid-decade redistricting effort, which could potentially net the party an additional 10 House seats, significantly boosting the odds of holding the chamber.

Unfavorable Realities

Nevertheless, Trump is struggling against a historical pattern for U.S. presidents in midterm elections: in the vast majority of cases where the president's party controls both chambers of Congress, it loses control of at least one house in the midterms, with very few exceptions.

Multiple polls indicate that the public widely perceives the U.S. economic situation as poor and places the blame on Trump.

A Trump campaign aide involved in Tuesday's meeting responded, stating, "The tax cuts Trump enacted have put real money back in people's pockets, and the president is keeping all Americans safe. We have the manpower, the unified message, and the financial resources to make sure everyone understands that."
