During the golden autumn season, the 5.35 million mu of corn in our city has achieved an abundant harvest, and farmers are seizing the clear weather to fully engage in the autumn harvest.
Mechanized direct harvesting is carried out by combine harvesters (image from Bayannur News Broadcast). In the more than 4,000 mu of corn fields of the Yuandingfu Farmers' Professional Cooperative at the Linhe Farm in the Bayannur National Agricultural High-tech Zone, two large combine harvesters are carrying out mechanized direct harvesting, and the harvested corn is promptly transferred and quickly stored.
This year, the cooperative has fully adopted dense planting high-yield cultivation technology for corn, increasing planting density and using BeiDou navigation seeding, integrated water and fertilizer, and other technologies to achieve higher yields and income. Wang Rulai, a manager of the Yuandingfu Farmers' Professional Cooperative, introduced that dense planting basically ensures 6,000 seedlings per mu, and current yield measurement is about 2,200 jin per mu, an increase of 200 jin per mu compared with last year, with income per mu expected to be between 2,400 yuan and 2,500 yuan after settlement.
In the Bayannur全域 corn one-ton grain field high-yield research field in Shajintaohai Sumu, Dengkou County (image from Bayannur News Broadcast), 10,000 mu of contiguous corn has matured. Relying on high-standard farmland construction, this research field has transformed sandy farmland into standardized fertile land with stable and high yields through land leveling, pipe network support, and soil fertility improvement, improving water and fertilizer retention conditions in sandy land and laying a solid hardware foundation for high-yield research on one-ton grain fields.
The research field also implements a dual chief expert responsibility system, with expert teams from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and grassroots agricultural technicians stationed in the fields throughout the process to bring scientific research results to the fields. Wang Yuanyuan, comprehensive manager of the Xingtai Family Farm in Dengkou County, said that our farmland selects excellent corn varieties, implements refined management and control throughout the planting process, carries out measures such as precise land preparation, rational dense planting, and integrates multiple advanced planting technologies to fully tap yield-increasing potential and continuously raise the corn yield level, with a target yield of more than 2,000 jin per mu.
Our city is an important national grain and oil production base, and corn is the grain crop with the largest planting area in the city. This year, our city launched a five-year action to increase the production capacity of corn one-ton grain fields citywide, implementing five core technologies: "precise land preparation, precise seed selection, precise coating, precise sowing, and uniform seedling emergence with drip irrigation." Through concentrated contiguous production trusteeship and models such as "enterprise + cooperative + farmer," it integrates 167 high-yield demonstration areas of "100 mu, 1,000 mu, 10,000 mu, 100,000 mu, and one million mu" across the city to maximize grain yield-increasing potential.
According to agricultural situation scheduling, this year the city's corn planting area reached 5.35 million mu, and 3.5156 million mu of one-ton grain field production capacity improvement construction tasks were implemented. Liu Yonggang, director of the Municipal Modern Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Development Center, introduced that the core of the high-yield cultivation technology for corn dense planting with precise water and fertilizer regulation is to increase the number of seedlings retained per mu, generally raising it from about 4,000 to more than 5,000, with high-yield fields generally at 6,000 to 7,000, and precise water and fertilizer regulation technology has significantly improved yields. The goal is to increase yield by 60 jin per mu each year and to increase total output by 300 million jin in 2026 compared with 2025, making Bayannur's contribution to safeguarding national food security.
To ensure that every grain of corn is returned to the granary, our city has organized more than 2,000 corn harvesters to participate in operations, with a mechanical harvesting rate of 98%, striving to complete the corn harvest in mid-to-late October.
