GUMING's "Autumn Milk Tea" Order Surge Sparks Chaos: Brawl Between Staff and Riders, Hygiene Concerns at Select Stores

On August 7, the first day of autumn, GUMING experienced a surge in orders across multiple stores due to the "First Cup of Autumn Milk Tea" promotion, leading to disorder.

Some outlets were so overwhelmed that hygiene standards deteriorated, with items cluttered and even physical altercations breaking out with delivery riders. A viral video shows staff from a GUMING store grappling with a rider, with shouts of "Why are you hitting?" as a crowd of riders gathered to watch.

Additionally, a netizen posted photos of the GUMING (Guannan Jia De Fu store) showing unsanitary conditions, likely due to the high order volume. Packaging was strewn about, and the floor had dark stains. The netizen remarked, "I was shocked by the store's hygiene as soon as I walked in. The counter was piled with cups, packaging was a mess, and the back kitchen floor was covered in trash, paper scraps, and puddles. It felt very unsafe. Eventually, they rushed to make two cups without labels, and the taste was terrible."

Sina Finance attempted to contact the involved store but received no response as of the report's deadline. GUMING's official channels have not commented on the incidents of staff-rider conflicts and hygiene issues at select stores. The customer service hotline was busy, with a message stating, "Current inquiries are too numerous; we are handling them urgently."
