South Korea's benchmark Kospi index closed 0.6% lower at 6,258.77 points. This marks the second consecutive trading day of losses for the index.

The Kospi recorded a weekly decline of 5.1%, extending its losing streak to seven consecutive weeks. This is the longest stretch of weekly declines since December 2022.
