The 2026 summer travel season has officially wrapped up, with Tianjin Binhai International Airport handling over 26,500 flights and 3.768 million passenger trips, roughly matching last year's figures for the same period.

Throughout the peak season, the airport served an average of nearly 61,000 passengers daily. Passenger numbers began climbing steadily from mid-July, hitting a single-day peak on August 22nd with 67,000 travelers. Daily flight operations averaged more than 425, with the busiest day on August 11th seeing 485 flights handled.

Data indicates that the most popular domestic destinations were Guangzhou, Shanghai, Kunming, Chongqing, Shenzhen, and Xi'an. On the international front, Seoul in South Korea and Singapore emerged as top outbound travel picks. To enhance passenger experience, the airport focused on optimizing route networks, expanding service benefits, and developing express flight products, offering travelers more options, better value, and greater efficiency. Ahead of the summer rush, the airport analyzed demand trends and coordinated with airlines to boost capacity and add frequencies.

An additional 288 flights were added weekly, with carriers including Air China, Xiamen Airlines, and Tianjin Airlines launching new domestic routes to Shanghai, Chengdu, Harbin, Chongqing, and Changsha, while also increasing flights to Seoul to meet summer demand.

Starting August 1st, the airport expanded its domestic transfer passenger benefits, which were previously limited to those connecting between airport-agent-operated flights. The complimentary meals for transiting passengers and free overnight accommodation now extend to travelers switching between HNA Group flights and airport-agent-operated services, allowing more connecting passengers to enjoy premium services. Additional perks include priority check-in counters, express security lanes, and dedicated signage, alongside flexible ticket changes and convenient rebooking options from airlines. By shortening wait times and walking distances, these measures have substantially boosted travel efficiency.

The airport remains committed to refining its route network, diversifying service offerings, and elevating service quality to deliver a superior and more streamlined air travel experience in the future.
