Intel stock Surges on Company Cooperation and New CEO

Intel shares surged 16.2% this week.

Intel on Wednesday named former board member and chip industry veteran Lip-Bu Tan as its CEO and signaled the struggling but storied chipmaker was unlikely to split up its chip-design and manufacturing operations.

Reuters reported on Tuesday that TSMC had approached some of Intel's biggest potential manufacturing customers about forming a joint venture to operate Intel's factories, after U.S. President Donald Trump's administration requested TSMC to help turn around the troubled chipmaker.

Super Micro Stock Rises Again, Top Analyst Says ‘Lock ‘n Load’

Super Micro Computer stock jumped 10.3% this week.

The server specialist's valuation is also getting a boost from the company's new cybersecurity partnership and a report that Nvidia and other semiconductor leaders could be teaming up to purchase Intel's chip foundry business.

Rosenblatt’s Kevin Cassidy rates SMCI shares as a Buy, accompanied by a $60 price target. Investors are looking at 12-month returns of ~42%, should the forecast work out as planned.

AES Corporation Jumps As It Secures Massive $800M Debt Deal

AES Corp, a global energy company, jumped 9% this week.

The company has announced the pricing of $800 million aggregate principal amount of 5.800% senior notes due 2032. The offering is expected to close on March 20, 2025, subject to customary conditions.

The company plans to use the net proceeds to fund purchases of its 3.300% Senior Notes due 2025 through a tender offer. Any remaining proceeds will be allocated to retire outstanding indebtedness and for general corporate purposes.

Southwest Stock Jumps on Announcement of Baggage Fees, Basic Economy Tickets

Southwest Airlines shares jumped 6% this week as the airline said it will start offering basic economy tickets and charging for checked bags later this year.

The changes follow months of disputes with activist investor Elliott Investment Management.

Southwest also lowered its growth projection for first-quarter revenue per available seat mile.

Micron Stock Jumps Ahead of It Earnings

Micron Technology shares jumped 8.4% this week.

Micron is projected to post its quarterly earnings results after the market closes on Thursday, March 20th. Analysts expect Micron Technology to post earnings of $1.43 per share and revenue of $7.93 billion for the quarter. Micron Technology has set its Q2 2025 guidance at 1.330-1.530 EPS and its Q2 guidance at $1.33-$1.53 EPS.

Nvidia Rallies As AI Event Looms

Nvidia shares jumped 8% this week, making up for being among the "Magnificent Seven" names that dragged the market lower during the recent tech-driven downturn.

One of Nvidia’s major suppliers, Foxconn, issued guidance that confirmed the AI trade is far from over yet. 

Nvidia is set to kick off its weeklong GPU Technology Conference in San Jose, California on Monday, with a keynote address from CEO Jensen Huang on Tuesday.
