Market regulators have significantly ramped up antitrust enforcement during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, according to the latest data from the State Administration for Market Regulation. Authorities have carried out special campaigns targeting administrative abuse of power that excludes or restricts competition for four consecutive years, resulting in the lawful resolution of 290 cases.

These enforcement actions have effectively curbed unlawful government intervention in market competition, contributing to a more favorable business environment and supporting the development of a unified national market. Notably, cases involving municipal and county-level governments and their affiliated departments account for over 95% of the 290 resolved cases, highlighting that grassroots-level administrative interference in market competition remains a prominent issue.
