The Trump administration is seeking an equity stake of as much as 10% in Lithium Americas as it renegotiates terms of the company's $2.26 billion Energy Department loan for its Thacker Pass lithium project with General Motors, two people familiar with the discussions told Reuters.

Lithium Americas shares soared 78% in overnight trading. Other lithium companies also jumped. ioneer rose 15%, Albemarle rose 7%, American Battery Technology rose 6%.

Micron forecast first-quarter revenue above market estimates, betting on booming demand for artificial intelligence hardware to boost sales of its advanced memory chips as a race to dominate AI tech intensifies. The shares rose 0.5% in overnight trading.
