Cybersecurity Industry Leaders Advocate Against Ban on Anthropic's AI Model

A coalition of prominent cybersecurity leaders, including chief information security officers from Adobe, Zoom, and SOPHOS, along with security researchers and executives, is urging the Trump administration to rescind restrictions on Anthropic's most advanced AI model. They argue that the ban is more detrimental to cyber defenders than to attackers.

These leaders contend that limiting access to Anthropic's first publicly available Mythos-level model could undermine the capability of network defenders to counter a rising wave of threats from AI-powered hacking attacks.

A group of experts, spearheaded by former Facebook Chief Security Officer Alex Stamos, highlighted in a letter that the issues identified by Amazon researchers are also present in other mainstream AI models. By Sunday evening local time, the letter had garnered over 40 signatories.

Signatories include Katie Moussouris, CEO of Luta Security; Rachel Tobac, CEO of SocialProof Security; Chris Wysopal, co-founder of Veracode; renowned computer scientist Paul Vixie; Joe Levy, CEO of Sophos; and Aaron Grattafiori, a security researcher at Nvidia.
