United Rentals' stock surged 9.66% in after-hours trading following the release of its second-quarter financial results, which significantly exceeded market expectations and prompted the company to raise its full-year outlook.

The equipment rental giant reported adjusted earnings per share of $12.76 for the quarter, beating the analyst consensus estimate of $11.53 by 10.67%. Revenue came in at $4.41 billion, surpassing expectations of $4.22 billion and marking an 11.8% increase year-over-year. Net income rose 21.1% to $753 million, while adjusted EBITDA increased 13.6% to $2.06 billion.

Following these strong results, United Rentals raised its full-year 2026 revenue guidance to $17.5-$17.8 billion from the previous range of $16.9-$17.4 billion. The company also lifted its adjusted EBITDA outlook to $7.98-$8.13 billion. CEO Matthew Flannery cited accelerating growth, strong cost discipline, and tailwinds from large projects and customer backlogs as key drivers behind the improved performance.
