Idea: A Camera That Flies—The Ultimate Evolution of Smart Photography

At a recent exchange event, Insta360 founder Liu Jingkang introduced the concept of the "photography robot." He explained that the ideal product form is a drone-shaped camera, capable of full freedom of movement in space, which could replace the need for spontaneous snapshots in outdoor settings. The current product that comes closest to this vision is the panoramic drone.

Liu Jingkang believes that the "photography robot" is not just a specific product shape but also the core philosophy of the company—making photography simpler, more automated, and more unobtrusive. This idea has been evident since the company's brand name "Insta" (meaning "instant capture"), and when the Nano was launched a decade ago, the goal was to leverage smartphone computing power to achieve real-time capture and calculation.

Regarding embodied intelligence, Liu Jingkang disclosed that many customers purchase panoramic cameras to support training for various embodied models. Panoramic cameras offer clear advantages in data collection, as they can simultaneously capture screen content and surrounding environmental changes, allowing AI to learn more complete contextual associations. "The essence of intelligence is compression," he noted, adding that the more data collected, the more features and patterns can be extracted. However, the field is still in its early stages and requires more information gathering and analysis.
