The spirit of labor was in full swing during the International Labor Day holiday at Shandong Port's Qingdao Port, where massive vessels navigated busily and crane arms moved swiftly across a bustling harbor. Upholding the fine tradition of intensifying operations during holidays, the port's staff dedicated themselves to enhancing production, improving efficiency, and expanding throughput. Their diligent efforts painted a vibrant picture of high-quality development for Qingdao Port in this productive month.

The container sector experienced a surge in activity, with all production lines reporting growth. At QQCT, efficient operations led to a series of successes, including the smooth handling of over 10 large vessels, each with a capacity exceeding 8,000 TEUs, during the holiday. The vessel COSCO SHIPPING AQUARIUS achieved a remarkable berth efficiency rate of 320.59 natural containers per hour, setting a new world record for the Ocean Alliance's AEU1 Europe route. QQCTU saw a 17.4% year-on-year increase in throughput, breaking three production records while optimizing operational efficiency and reducing non-productive waiting times. The company also pioneered an innovative "land-to-water + water-to-water transshipment" model and maintained a 100% equipment availability rate. QQCTN reported steady growth in operational indicators, leveraging integrated scheduling and coordination with port authorities to reduce vessel port stays by 5.5 hours. Eight vessels departed two hours ahead of schedule, demonstrating the robust capabilities of the smart terminal through swift berthing, operations, and departures.

The oil products sector operated at full throttle, with throughput climbing steadily. The Oil Port Company efficiently managed peak vessel arrivals by prioritizing operational efficiency and coordinated planning. By optimizing berthing, departure, and unloading procedures, and aligning operations with market demands, the company ensured simultaneous operations of multiple tankers across "two ports and five locations" on a single day. Successful implementation of "two berthings in one tide" enhanced both berth turnover and crude oil unloading efficiency. Over the holiday, the sector handled 52 vessel movements, achieving a throughput of 1.42 million tons, including 1.13 million tons of imported oil, and facilitated 1.08 million tons of diversified shipments, exceeding holiday production targets.

The dry bulk sector maintained a busy schedule, focusing on quality and efficiency. Dongjiakou Ore Terminal scientifically organized production and meticulously scheduled operations, handling 21 vessels and achieving a throughput of 1.413 million tons during the holiday. This included 1.203 million tons of foreign trade and 210,000 tons of domestic trade throughput, alongside loading 7,717 railway wagons. All production indicators showed positive growth, celebrating Labor Day with a series of high-output accomplishments.

The breakbulk sector tackled challenges with innovation, adding further luster to operations. Dagang Company addressed complex stowage issues by introducing a novel "steel plate foundation + containers + mechanical stacking" technique. Using forklifts to precisely position 40-foot containers into dark ship holds for the first time, the company overcame obstacles in handling large cement bags on soft bases. Efficient operations were also achieved in loading potassium fertilizer ton bags and pulp, reflecting strong on-site determination. Xilian Company enhanced coordination between operations and storage yards, optimizing manpower and machinery deployment. Pulp shipments reached 60,000 tons during the holiday, a 5% year-on-year increase, strengthening supply chain reliability. Dongfeng Company ensured smooth and efficient operations, handling 56 vessel movements and over 220,000 tons of breakbulk cargo. Faced with concentrated arrivals of metal and steel shipments, the company streamlined processes, coordinated direct transfers, and maintained seamless end-to-end operations, laying a solid foundation for sustained production.

Weihai Port saw successive peaks in activity, striving to surpass mid-year targets. By balancing production organization, service support, and safety management, Weihai Port optimized shipping capacity and saw synchronized progress across container, China-Korea passenger and cargo routes, bulk and general cargo, and Ro-Ro transport sectors. Holiday operations were robust, with 47 vessels handled, a 100% direct berthing and punctuality rate for liners, and year-on-year growth in throughput and container handling. Passenger volume surged by 22.71%, breaking two historical port records.

Key construction projects accelerated, mobilizing efforts across the board. The Construction Management Center deployed over 3,800 workers and 980 sets of machinery to focus on key areas in Qianwan and Dongjiakou port districts. Ten critical projects, including the renovation of Berths 72-74 in Qianwan and Berths 7-8 on Dongjiakou's North Third Pier, advanced under round-the-clock supervision, achieving zero accidents and zero defects during the holiday. Multiple projects progressed simultaneously with efficient workflow integration, meeting key construction milestones as planned.

Support units provided unwavering service, reinforcing port security. Tugboat Company operated at full capacity, with tugs shuttling efficiently to assist vessels. During the holiday, 484 tugboat operations supported 918 large vessel movements, ensuring high berth turnover with skilled coordination. Seven tugs were also deployed externally, completing tasks such as offshore wind power support, oil field monitoring, and long-distance towing in the South China Sea and Bohai Sea, enhancing the company's professional reputation. The Surveying Company focused on monitoring new energy vehicle loading, strictly checking hazardous material labels and container suitability, and maintaining full video documentation and data reporting. The company supervised the loading of 150 electric vehicles and 75 containers during the holiday, upholding safety standards. The Emergency Rescue Company remained on high alert, conducting over 20 nighttime heavy equipment inspections, 30 fire safety checks, and 10 emergency drills. By vigilantly monitoring key areas and maintaining rapid response readiness, the company fortified the port's fire safety defenses.

In this vibrant month of labor, Qingdao Port continues to champion the dignity of work, promoting the spirit of model workers, labor, and craftsmanship. With heightened determination, pragmatic approaches, and proactive efforts, the port is poised to write a new chapter in building a world-class oceanic port.
