At the iQiyi World Conference held on the morning of April 20, iQiyi Inc. founder and CEO Gong Yu delivered a keynote address. Gong Yu stated that while live-action filming will always exist, it is set to become a minority practice. The film and television industry has reached a consensus on the impact of artificial intelligence. In the past, technological innovations such as film, television, and the internet first transformed platforms before altering content. Today, however, the shift begins with content itself, significantly reducing production costs and shortening creation cycles for film and television projects. Gong Yu emphasized the importance of capital turnover, noting that while most industries see capital circulate multiple times a year, the film and television sector typically experiences a cycle every two to three years. This poses a challenge in demonstrating competitive returns. However, AI has notably shortened production timelines. He further cited the "Jevons Paradox" to explain that AI is driving a rapid increase in the number of content creators, leading to an explosive growth in film and television productions. This, in turn, results in a surge in audience consumption and a substantial expansion of the industry's scale.
