Fresh IPO Preview: Sheng Sheng Cold Chain Faces Dual Pressure on Profit Quality and Business Growth with Revenue Growth Slowing to 8.3% and Cash Flow Plunging 99%

On July 23, the Hong Kong Stock Exchange main board welcomed a unique "temperature controller"—Shanghai Sheng Sheng Pharmaceutical Cold Chain Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Sheng Sheng Cold Chain") officially launched its capital market sprint after a second filing. This "hidden champion", which holds the top position in China's pharmaceutical and life sciences temperature-controlled supply chain services and is the only Chinese company among the global top ten, is attempting to use a performance report showing steadily rising revenue and continuously improving gross profit margins to tell investors a story of high growth in the "low-temperature track".

Revenue growth is marginally slowing, while profit quality and cash flow resilience face tests.

Although full-year 2025 profit achieved a strong rebound, a deeper breakdown of revenue growth momentum and cost structure evolution reveals multiple tests on the company's profit sustainability and the resulting cash flow resilience. First, Sheng Sheng Cold Chain's revenue growth momentum has shown signs of marginal weakening. Full-year 2025 revenue reached 728 million yuan, an annual increase of about 11.2%, which is a recovery compared to the 6.6% growth rate in 2024, but this upturn was more influenced by a low base effect. As of the four months ended April 30, 2026, the company achieved revenue of 256 million yuan, with the year-on-year growth rate further slowing to about 8.3%.

While revenue momentum weakens, the elasticity in profit side is more attributable to abnormal fluctuations in expense items. In 2024, administrative expenses surged to 121 million yuan, with an expense ratio as high as 18.6%, directly causing the operating profit margin to sharply compress from the previous value of 17.2% to 7.3%. By 2025, administrative expenses fell back to 68.52 million yuan, which, combined with that year's revenue growth, jointly pushed the annual profit to rebound to 139 million yuan. However, the essence of this repair path lies in a significant "scissors gap" forming between profit growth and revenue growth—the 2025 profit grew more than four times year-on-year, while revenue growth was only 11.2%. This is fundamentally due to the mean reversion of expense items, not endogenous revenue drivers, so the sustainability of profit improvement requires a longer observation window.

Looking at the company's cash flow statement, although the net cash inflow from operating activities for the full year 2025 recorded 184 million yuan, seemingly maintaining positive cash-generating capacity, an in-depth analysis of the cash flow reveals hidden worries about the company's liquidity management. The most alarming signal comes from the marginal deterioration of operating cash flow. For the four months ended April 30, 2026, the net cash generated from operating activities sharply shrank to 230,000 yuan, a 99.1% plunge from 26.98 million yuan in the same period last year. This near-cliff-like narrowing forms a huge contrast with the net profit of 45.24 million yuan for the same period, reflecting that under the dual pressure of slowing revenue growth and the reversal of impairment losses on accounts receivable, working capital's erosion of cash flow is accelerating.

Temperature-controlled equipment sales plummet by 30%: The "product + service" synergy logic still needs time to materialize.

Sheng Sheng Cold Chain is listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange with a dual-drive model of "temperature-controlled supply chain services + temperature-controlled equipment R&D and manufacturing". The synergistic narrative of "services extending products, products empowering services" depicted in its prospectus forms an important support for its valuation premium. However, the structural fractures in the latest business data are posing severe challenges to the practical basis of this logic. This challenge first manifests in the cliff-like decline of the temperature-controlled equipment sales business. In the full years of 2023, 2024, and 2025, revenue from this business was 6.675 million yuan, 14.294 million yuan, and 24.636 million yuan respectively, still on a steady climbing path, with its share of revenue gradually increasing from 1.1% to 3.4%.

However, entering 2026, this growth trajectory abruptly reversed. For the four months ended April 30, temperature-controlled equipment sales revenue was only 8.191 million yuan, a sharp 26.0% drop from 11.063 million yuan in the same period last year, with its share of revenue sliding from 4.7% to 3.2%. This significant decline of over a quarter occurred against the backdrop of the company continuously increasing independent R&D investment and expanding its core component product lines like temperature-controlled packaging containers, VIP panels, and PCM panels. This potentially suggests that the product side encountered stronger-than-expected resistance in commercialization, customer expansion, and market penetration. The sudden contraction of temperature-controlled equipment sales is not just a single-dimensional revenue fluctuation but directly shakes the narrative foundation of the "product + service" synergy logic.

From a strategic design perspective, by independently developing temperature-controlled equipment, the company aims to achieve synergy in two dimensions: first, replacing external procurement with self-produced equipment to reduce packaging and transportation costs for temperature-controlled supply chain services, thereby raising gross profit margins; second, selling temperature-controlled equipment as independent products externally to create incremental revenue sources, forming a "service-driven, product-monetized" second growth curve. However, data from the first four months of 2026 shows that the synergistic effects of these two dimensions have not been effectively realized. During the same period, the gross profit margin of the company's temperature-controlled supply chain services showed only modest improvement, with the self-produced equipment's effect on cost optimization not yet significant. Meanwhile, external equipment sales not only failed to continue growing but experienced a sharp decline of over 30%, indicating that the independent market competitiveness and customer acceptance of the product side remain at a low level.

A deeper concern lies in the linkage effect between the sharp drop in temperature-controlled equipment sales and the slowing growth of the core business. In the first four months of 2026, the revenue growth rate for clinical trial temperature-controlled supply chain services was only 5.7%, at a historically low level. Against the backdrop of weakening customer acquisition momentum on the service side, the conversion path for cross-selling temperature-controlled equipment to customers through the service network encountered obstacles. The service-side traffic entry point failed to effectively translate into incremental sales on the product side, and the synergy channel between the two has not yet been truly opened. This also explains why the share of temperature-controlled equipment sales in revenue did not increase as expected but instead fell back from 4.7% in the same period of 2025 to 3.2%. Therefore, the fact that temperature-controlled equipment sales plummeted by 30% not only constitutes a direct drag on short-term revenue but also fundamentally undermines the credibility of the "product + service" synergy logic.

When service-side revenue growth has already slowed to single digits and equipment-side sales have suffered a significant setback, the gap between the growth narrative painted by the company and reality continues to widen. How to consolidate the basic foundation of temperature-controlled supply chain services while reactivating the growth momentum of equipment sales and substantially opening the synergy transmission mechanism between the two will be a core proposition determining whether its long-term business expansion can break through the current bottleneck.

In summary, on one hand, Sheng Sheng Cold Chain firmly holds the leading position in China's pharmaceutical and life sciences temperature-controlled supply chain services. The deep roots of the clinical trial temperature-controlled supply chain and the nationwide self-operated network constitute competitive barriers that are difficult to replicate. On the other hand, the marginal slowdown in revenue growth, the sharp contraction in operating cash flow, structural fluctuations in administrative expenses, and the significant retreat in temperature-controlled equipment sales together paint a picture of a company in the throes of a transformation. When the high-growth narrative of the "low-temperature track" coexists with the substantive pressure from financial data, investors need to carefully weigh the deterministic dividends of the industry beta against the company's ability to deliver its own alpha.
