Shares of Gentex Corporation (GNTX) plummeted 5.15% in intraday trading Friday, as investors reacted to the automotive supplier’s second-quarter revenue falling short of Wall Street expectations.

The company reported Q2 sales of $651.3 million, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $669.5 million, a 1% decline from a year ago. The top-line weakness was primarily driven by a 3% drop in automotive revenue, reflecting lower global light vehicle production and reduced shipments of base auto-dimming mirrors, particularly in international markets. Pressure in China was especially pronounced, with revenue there declining approximately 20% quarter-over-quarter.

While adjusted earnings per share of $0.58 handily beat the $0.50 consensus, the revenue miss and ongoing automotive softness dominated sentiment. Gentex maintained its full-year 2026 revenue guidance of $2.65–$2.75 billion and raised its gross margin outlook, but the near-term sales headwinds from lower vehicle production overshadowed the improved profitability metrics.
