The Hong Kong Generative AI Research and Development Center (HKGAI) has expressed strong support for the various key innovation and technology initiatives outlined in the latest Policy Address and related development plans delivered by the Chief Executive. These measures include the in-depth implementation of the "AI+" action plan, the promotion of universal AI training, the acceleration of computing infrastructure projects such as the Sha Ling data园区, the development of an "AI City Brain" for integrated urban management, the establishment of a new landscape featuring "three innovation and technology parks and five research institutions," the refinement of AI and data governance frameworks, and the launch of a comprehensive digital education resource platform.

HKGAI has pledged to actively align with the national "15th Five-Year Plan" and the Hong Kong development roadmap, continuing to advance the independent research and practical application of AI technologies locally. The center is committed to nurturing local innovation talent and fully supporting the transformation of Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub and a premier destination for high-end talent.

Professor Harry Shum, Council Chairman of HKGAI and Chief Vice-President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), stated that HKGAI will work hand in hand with the government, industry, and all sectors of society to realize the "AI industrialization and industry AI adoption" strategy. He expressed confidence that AI can drive economic growth across various fields and scenarios, propelling Hong Kong toward becoming a smart city.

Currently, HKGAI is focused on converting its research outcomes into a diverse array of AI solutions, empowering businesses and organizations to advance their digital transformation. In the sphere of digital government and citizen services, HKGAI intends to further deepen its integration with the "iAM Smart" platform, enabling residents to search for and access a wide range of e-government and public services in a faster and more direct manner. This collaboration aims to deliver a seamless, "one-stop" smart government service experience.

In response to the proposal in the latest Policy Address to issue comprehensive safety management guidelines for AI agents applicable to the whole society, HKGAI will fully cooperate with the government's safety protocols and governance structure. The center is also eager to provide technical advice based on its experience with local model alignment and safety assessments, ensuring that AI development proceeds in a secure, trustworthy, and compliant manner. Furthermore, HKGAI supports the government's efforts to accelerate the construction of the Sha Ling data园区.
