MicroStrategy (MSTR.US) is executing a dual-track capital strategy, channeling newly raised liquidity from equity monetization into both Bitcoin accumulation and the maintenance of its STRC preferred stock program. This approach signals the company's effort to strike a dynamic balance between expanding its asset base and managing its existing debt structure.

Data indicates the company sold 4,531,421 shares of MSTR common stock within a single week, generating net proceeds of $602.8 million. While the filing reports figures rounded to one decimal place, the four specific uses disclosed total only $602.2 million, leaving a $0.6 million discrepancy that remains unexplained. The capital deployment shows a clear division: a portion is directed toward Bitcoin acquisition, while the remainder is earmarked to support the STRC floating-rate cumulative perpetual preferred stock.

On the asset side, MicroStrategy's total purchase cost for its entire Bitcoin holdings stands at $63.73 billion, with an average cost per coin of $75,412. On the liability side, although no preferred shares were sold through the at-the-market program, the company utilized $202.5 million for STRC share repurchases and dividend payments. Following this execution, approximately $364.8 million remains available under its preferred stock buyback plan, indicating ample refinancing capacity.

As of August 30, MicroStrategy held $1.61 billion in U.S. dollar cash balances and $5.1 billion in dollar reserve balances. The latter is specifically earmarked to cover preferred stock dividends and interest on outstanding debt. Both balances include funds expected from at-the-market sales but not yet received. This cash reserve structure suggests that while maintaining a highly leveraged Bitcoin exposure, the company is employing meticulous liquidity management to mitigate potential solvency risks.
