Brii Bio (BRII-B) H1 2026: Loss Narrows 32%, RMB1.77 Billion Cash Extends Runway to 2029

Brii Biosciences Limited (Brii Bio) released its unaudited interim results for the six months ended 30 June 2026.

Financial Highlights • Net loss attributable to shareholders fell to RMB100.56 million, a 32.1% improvement from RMB148.07 million a year earlier. • Basic and diluted loss per share declined to RMB0.14 from RMB0.20. • Revenue remains absent; the company booked RMB19.52 million in other income, mainly bank interest, down 30.6% year on year. • Other gains swung to a RMB30.54 million profit, driven by fair-value increases in money-market and equity investments. • R&D expenditure dropped 16.0% to RMB98.33 million as Phase 2 HBV studies wound down; administrative costs decreased 9.7% to RMB52.58 million. • Net cash used in operations narrowed to RMB165.49 million (H1 2025: RMB221.38 million).

Balance Sheet and Liquidity • Cash, cash equivalents and time deposits totaled RMB1.77 billion at period-end, down from RMB1.94 billion at 31 December 2025. • Management expects existing funds to cover planned development through 2029. • The group remains debt-free; gearing ratio is not meaningful.

Pipeline Progress HBV Functional Cure • End-of-study data from Phase 2b ENSURE and topline results from Phase 2b ENRICH and ENHANCE reinforced the potential of BRII-179 plus elebsiran regimens. • Detailed ENRICH/ENHANCE results will be presented in H2 2026; Phase 3 design awaits resolution of an ongoing arbitration with Vir Biotechnology regarding elebsiran rights.

Oncology • Post-period, the first participant was dosed (12 Aug 2026) with BRII-5395, an mRNA therapeutic vaccine for advanced hepatocellular carcinoma—Brii Bio’s first internally discovered RNA therapeutic to enter the clinic.

Anti-infectives and HIV • Partner Joincare dosed the first subject in a Phase 1 China study of soralimixin for MDR Gram-negative infections (Jun 2026); Brii retains ex-Greater China rights. • The company continues to seek partners for long-acting HIV candidates BRII-732 (oral) and BRII-753 (injectable).

Corporate Developments • A HK$60 million (approx. RMB55 million) share-buyback mandate was approved in June 2026. • Employee headcount stood at 80, with 74% in R&D. • No interim dividend was declared.

Outlook Management will focus on advancing the HBV portfolio toward Phase 3 readiness, expanding RNA-based platforms and exploring out-licensing or co-development deals for non-core assets, while maintaining disciplined spending underpinned by the RMB1.77 billion cash reserve.
