Jiangxi's Copper Industry: Forging Ahead Together on the Industrial Chain

High-end copper-silver alloy wire is an indispensable fundamental material for cutting-edge equipment sectors such as drones, intelligent robots, and new energy vehicles. This technology was once monopolized by foreign countries, leaving China heavily dependent on imports. "We made numerous attempts, but when drawing ultra-fine wires, we often spent great effort threading the line, only to have it snap the moment the equipment started," said Zheng Xiong, a researcher at the Processing Research Institute of Jiangxi Copper Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. He noted that this is not a problem one person or one company can resolve—it is a challenge the entire industry must tackle together.

In response to the bottlenecks hindering the high-quality development of the copper industry, the Organization Department of the Jiangxi Provincial Party Committee has driven the "organizational chain" to be firmly embedded within the industrial chain. As the "chain leader" enterprise, Jiangxi Copper Group took the lead in establishing a Party committee for the copper industry chain, joined by seven other upstream and downstream copper enterprises. With members spanning mining, manufacturing, and other sectors, the initiative has guided efforts to "turn the list of 'bottleneck' challenges into a research agenda," forming multiple joint research teams and temporary Party branches.

While the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences focused on solving the issue of casting rod purification, Jiangxi Copper independently developed related equipment and innovatively adopted a continuous extrusion large plastic deformation process. During the high-performance copper-silver alloy wire project, each unit leveraged its strengths, successfully producing a copper-silver alloy wire with a diameter of 0.016 millimeters and a single length exceeding 100 kilometers, achieving a technological level on par with top international products.

Turning attention to the Dexing Copper Mine, 200 kilometers away, a similar story of chain-based collaboration is unfolding. The electric-wheel truck tires used there were once heavily reliant on imports, urgently requiring domestic alternatives. For the upstream mining tire enterprise Hai'an Rubber Group Co., Ltd., the need was to "open the door to research and development," craving real-world usage data from the mining frontlines.

To address these upstream-downstream collaboration pain points, the two sides launched a joint Party building initiative for the copper industry chain. Jiang Guohua, Party Secretary of the Mining Site at Dexing Copper Mine, explained that after the initiative began, everyone felt like one family—attending Party classes together, organizing joint activities, and sharing experiences. The two parties established mechanisms for joint inspections, data analysis, and technological sharing focused on the full lifecycle management of tires. After more than two years of sustained research, the lifespan of domestically produced tires has steadily improved, approaching the level of imported ones, while procurement and maintenance costs have dropped noticeably.

For Hai'an Rubber Group Co., Ltd., the benefits of chain-based Party building have been equally far-reaching. Yang Shunxian, Project Manager of the company's Jiangxi division, believes that shifting from "each minding its own business" to "moving in sync" has enabled continuous technological breakthroughs. This not only strengthens the company's core competitiveness but also helps more mining enterprises cut costs and boost efficiency, advancing the development of the domestic giant mining tire industry.

These practical examples highlight the power of Party building within the industrial chain. Enterprises along the chain are moving forward together, "forging ahead side by side." By linking innovation elements through Party building, organizational advantages are transformed into collaborative efficiency. They have forged a close and reliable community of shared interests, jointly enhancing the resilience of the industrial chain and continually climbing toward the higher end of the value chain.
