Stock Buybacks and Investment Portfolio Expected to Dominate Discussion

The 2026 Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting is set to be a major event. On Friday, May 1, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska, attendees gathered outside the CHI Health Center during the shareholder shopping day ahead of the meeting. CEO Greg Abel has committed to continuing Warren Buffett's investment and risk management philosophy, with the official theme for the Saturday meeting being "The Legacy Continues."

Many long-time observers anticipate a shift away from the philosophical questions that typically dominated the sessions led by the 95-year-old Buffett. Instead, the focus is expected to turn to more detailed inquiries about the company's physical operations and strategic direction.

Investors will also be paying close attention to Berkshire's stock repurchase activities, which resumed in March of this year after a pause since 2024. However, the share price has not seen a significant boost since the buybacks restarted. Shareholders may press Abel on whether the pace of share repurchases will accelerate in the coming months.

Another major point of interest is Berkshire's massive equity investment portfolio and the management approach in the post-Buffett era. The portfolio is valued at approximately $300 billion. It is understood that Abel has begun reshaping its composition, gradually liquidating positions that were established by former investment manager Todd Combs, who departed for JPMorgan at the end of 2025.
