The rapid growth in revenue tied to artificial intelligence has begun to overshadow some of the world's most iconic consumer brands. As investors witness the tangible returns from AI investments, the rationale behind trillions of dollars in expected AI infrastructure spending becomes increasingly clear.

According to data from the AI research and investment platform Funda, the combined annualized revenue of OpenAI and Anthropic is projected to reach $120 billion. Of this total, Anthropic accounts for roughly 60% of the share, driven by its strength in the enterprise client segment, a gap that OpenAI is actively working to close.

At this revenue scale, both companies would secure a place among the top 100 firms on the Fortune 500 list. Anthropic’s estimated annualized revenue of approximately $71 billion exceeds the combined sales of Starbucks ($37.2 billion) and McDonald's ($26.9 billion). This figure is nearly equal to the total revenue of Starbucks, McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Yum! Brands, the parent company of KFC, all together. These food and beverage giants each boast 50 to 100 years of history, tens of thousands of physical locations, and household-name recognition, whereas Anthropic was founded only five years ago.
