Memory chip stocks led the decline, with SanDisk down 22.26%, Micron Technology down 17.46%, Western Digital down 17.35%, and Seagate Technology down 16.25%, as the market worries that a Democrat-led Congress will tighten data center approval restrictions, suppressing memory demand and product pricing. Optical communications stocks also tumbled, with Applied Optoelectronics down 20.89%, Lumentum down 18.68%, Ciena down 15.22%, Fabrinet down 14.25%, and Corning down 12.92%, as opposition to data center expansion in key construction hubs such as Texas and Georgia could delay AI capital expenditure. Elon Musk's massive political spending sparked market concerns, sending Tesla and SpaceX sharply lower, with Tesla down 10.77% and SpaceX down 9.05%. Popular Chinese concept stocks bucked the trend, with the Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index up 0.43%. NetEase rose 4.37%, JD.com gained 3.28%, Alibaba added 2.64%, and Bilibili advanced 2.67%. Key Developments to Watch

US Democrats are pushing for a super AI ban that would impose 20-year prison sentences for individual violations and forced dissolution for companies, with penalties comparable to those for illegally developing nuclear weapons. According to overseas reports, US Representative Yassamin Ansari (Arizona) wrote on a social network platform on November 4 local time: "Democrats need to put a pause on advanced artificial intelligence development at the top of the agenda on day one, regulate runaway industries, and ban artificial superintelligence." The post was published less than 24 hours after Democrats regained control of both the House and Senate in the midterm elections. Notably, Ansari's call to "ban artificial superintelligence" is not an impromptu proposal. The Senate version S.5493 was introduced by Bernie Sanders on September 23, and the House version H.R.10538 was introduced by Casar on September 24, both currently in "Introduced" status and not yet through committee review.

Meanwhile, production costs for BRUKINSA® and TEVIMBRA® declined due to improved production efficiency, but this positive impact was offset by a $22 million non-cash intangible asset impairment loss related to the company's decision to discontinue promotion of POBEICIZUMAB®. On an adjusted basis (excluding depreciation and amortization, and excluding the aforementioned impairment loss), product sales gross margin increased from 86% in the same period last year to 90%.
