According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on January 19, preliminary calculations indicate that China's gross domestic product (GDP) for the full year of 2025 reached 140.1879 trillion yuan, representing a year-on-year growth of 5.0 percent calculated at constant prices.

By industry, the value added of the primary industry was 9.3347 trillion yuan, up 3.9 percent year-on-year; the value added of the secondary industry was 49.9653 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.5 percent; and the value added of the tertiary industry reached 80.8879 trillion yuan, growing by 5.4 percent.

Quarterly analysis shows that GDP grew by 5.4 percent year-on-year in the first quarter, 5.2 percent in the second quarter, 4.8 percent in the third quarter, and 4.5 percent in the fourth quarter. On a quarter-on-quarter basis, the GDP increased by 1.2 percent in the fourth quarter.

During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, China's economy achieved an average annual growth of 5.4 percent, significantly surpassing the global average and continuing to outpace other major economies worldwide. Despite severe disruptions to global trade and economic order, China has navigated through challenges to become a primary trading partner for more than 150 countries and regions. In 2025, the total value of goods trade imports and exports exceeded the 45 trillion yuan mark for the first time, solidifying China's position as the world's largest goods trading nation. Furthermore, China's grain output has remained stable above 1.4 trillion jin for two consecutive years, manufacturing value added has held the top global position for 16 straight years, and the share of service sector value added in GDP has risen to 57.7 percent.

Kang Yi, Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics, stated that the national economy withstood multiple pressures in 2025, maintaining a stable and progressive development trend. New achievements were made in high-quality development, and the main targets and tasks for economic and social development were successfully accomplished, marking a victorious conclusion to the "14th Five-Year Plan" period.
