The recall involves GM vehicles equipped with the L87 6.2L V8 gasoline engine, which have experienced instances of engine damage or failure.

On January 19, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced it has initiated a recall inquiry into approximately 597,571 General Motors (GM.N) vehicles due to engine failure issues.

The NHTSA stated it has received 36 Vehicle Owner Questionnaires (VOQs) alleging engine failures in vehicles that were part of a previous recall campaign.

The complaints received claim that the prior recall remedies failed to resolve the underlying problem.
