Stock Track | GIGADEVICE Soars 5.34% Intraday on FTSE 50 Inclusion and Memory Chip Industry Upswing

06/18

GIGADEVICE's stock price soared 5.34% during intraday trading on Thursday, driven by its formal inclusion in the FTSE 50 Index and favorable conditions in the memory chip industry.

The company's addition to the FTSE 50 Index is expected to generate incremental buying demand from passive allocation funds. This comes amid a broader upcycle in the storage chip market, where global niche storage supply remains tight as major manufacturers shift capacity toward advanced products like HBM. According to industry data, NOR Flash and SLC NAND contract prices have accumulated gains exceeding 100% and 130%-150% respectively in the first half of the year.

Fundamentally, GIGADEVICE reported a remarkable 522.79% year-over-year surge in Q1 net profit to 1.461 billion yuan, with gross margin rising sequentially to 57.08%. The company is among the few capable of expanding DDR4 capacity through its partnership with CXMT during the current supply shortage, while its customized DRAM products for automotive and edge AI applications are expected to contribute revenue in the second half of the year. As a leading domestic NOR Flash design company with the second-largest global market share, GIGADEVICE is well-positioned to benefit from the ongoing memory chip shortage that analysts project may persist until at least 2028.
