Macau's first integrated project combining solar power generation, energy storage, and charging infrastructure has been successfully completed.

The project, located at the fuel operation zone of the Pac On Ferry Terminal in Taipa, Macau, was constructed by Nam Kwong (Group) Company Ltd. It integrates three major systems: distributed photovoltaic power generation, coordinated energy storage and dispatch, and smart new energy vehicle charging, establishing a comprehensive closed-loop energy supply system.

The total peak installed capacity of the photovoltaic system is 64.8 kilowatts. The project is equipped with one 50-kilowatt inverter, one 215-kilowatt-hour energy storage system, and one 120-kilowatt dual-gun fast charging station. It is estimated that the first year's power generation will reach approximately 82,810 kilowatt-hours.

Considering Macau's climate, which is prone to typhoons, high temperatures, and heavy rainfall, the project innovatively adopted an inverted-V opposing installation technique. This method significantly enhances the wind resistance and load-bearing capacity of the photovoltaic modules while also optimizing the panels' drainage and water-shedding capabilities.

Upon operation, the green electricity generated by the solar panels will be prioritized to supply the daily production and operational needs of the terminal's fuel operation zone and for charging new energy vehicles on-site. Any surplus power will be uniformly stored and dispatched via the energy storage system.

The project entered a trial operation phase in June 2024, generating over 6,229 kilowatt-hours of electricity in that month alone. This resulted in a 46% year-on-year reduction in electricity costs for the Pac On Ferry Terminal fuel operation zone, demonstrating significant energy-saving benefits.

The implementation and operation of this project enhance the local consumption level of clean energy at the terminal's fuel operation zone. It sets a benchmark for green energy usage in Macau, contributing to the ongoing optimization and upgrading of the region's energy structure and promoting the city's green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.
