The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) welcomes the launch of the Patent Valuation Pilot Support Scheme announced by the Intellectual Property Department of the HKSAR Government.

The Institute has long been an active advocate and promoter of the professional development of business valuation, regarding it as a key component of Hong Kong's development as a professional services hub.

The Institute believes that this scheme will help open up financing channels for intellectual property and reinforce Hong Kong's position as a regional intellectual property trading center.

The two-year pilot scheme aims to assist eligible local small and medium-sized enterprises in valuing their patents and other intellectual property assets, thereby providing objective valuation data to support enterprises in obtaining credit financing.

By encouraging enterprises to utilize their intellectual property assets as financing tools, the scheme seeks to unlock innovative commercial value and drive the development of Hong Kong's innovation and technology ecosystem.

Luo Zhuojian, President of the HKICPA, stated that intellectual property is playing an increasingly important role in driving innovation and economic growth, and that professional and credible valuation is a critical cornerstone for the commercialization and capitalization of intellectual property. The Institute has been consistently promoting and enhancing the professional development of business valuation.

The pilot scheme will help Hong Kong establish a more favorable environment for intellectual property valuation and financing, enabling innovative enterprises to more effectively utilize their intangible assets. At the same time, the Institute will continue to lead the industry in "pricing" and "adding value" to enterprises' intangible assets through high-quality valuation services, fully supporting Hong Kong's development of new quality productive forces and its innovation and technology ecosystem.
