To further strengthen the food and drug safety defenses of elderly care service institutions and safeguard the health and medication safety of senior residents, the market regulatory bureau of Liuzhou City in Guangxi recently carried out special inspections focusing on food, pharmaceutical, and medical device safety across all local nursing homes. Inspection teams visited nursing home cafeterias and medical storage areas, conducting thorough checks on key aspects such as food service permits, ingredient control, food preparation processes, facility hygiene, and food sample retention. They also comprehensively verified drug storage conditions, medical device registration and filing certificates, procurement records, and equipment maintenance logs, strictly investigating instances of unlicensed drug handling, sourcing pharmaceuticals through illegal channels, and the use of counterfeit, substandard, or expired medications. The inspections revealed that overall food, drug, and medical device safety conditions in nursing homes are satisfactory, though some facilities showed inadequate implementation of management systems. On-site guidance was provided for immediate corrections, with follow-up reviews scheduled to monitor rectification progress. The Liuzhou Market Regulatory Bureau will continue to advance specialized inspections of nursing homes, enhance regulatory effectiveness, and expand the scope and depth of joint inspections. Efforts will focus on strengthening safety protections across food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, special equipment, and consumer environments. Key measures include cracking down on false advertising to purify the consumer environment, with targeted actions against misleading promotions in nursing homes, private livestreams, and wellness centers that exaggerate product benefits or push pseudo-high-tech and health products to the elderly. The bureau will also rigorously address price fraud, unlicensed operations, and unfair competition. Additionally, special equipment such as elevators in nursing homes will be thoroughly inspected for compliance with regular testing, maintenance, and emergency system requirements, with institutions urged to fulfill safety responsibilities and eliminate hazards promptly. Management standards will be elevated by guiding nursing homes to benchmark against best practices, address deficiencies, implement transparent kitchen operations, strengthen regulatory awareness, and improve management systems, thereby driving service quality enhancements through broader societal oversight.
