Shares of Sierra Metals Inc. were trading lower after hours Tuesday, following news the company will voluntarily delist from the NYSE American and BVL exchanges.

At 5:53 p.m. ET, Sierra Metals's stock had fallen 36.45% to trade at 16 cents a share. The stock finished the day's regular session with a 20.98% gain, closing at 25 cents a share.

The stock touched a 52-week low of 19 cents a share on Oct. 24.

The company said it "decided to pursue the voluntary delistings after concluding that the disadvantages of maintaining its listing on the NYSE and the BVL outweighed the benefits to the company and its shareholders."

Sierra Metals said it expects the last day its shares will trade on the NYSE American will be on or about Nov. 14, and the last day on the BVL will be on or about Dec. 15.

The decision to delist will not affect Sierra Metals' listing on the Toronto Stock Exchange, the company added.
