OK I am calling it now: That's going to go down as an all-time anthem performance by Chris Stapleton.

He did a smart and glorious thing, which was to take the song down a notch--turn off all the bombast and make it sound almost like a mournful bluegrass song. It's a lovely reimagining. Not quite at GOAT status--Marvin Gaye at the NBA All-Star Game or Whitney Houston's Super Bowl rendition share that spot, IMO--but a truly stirring job.
