The purse is a 15% increase from the $65 million offered at last year's tournament
The US Open is wrapping up in Queens, and the purse this year is $75 million, the most total prize money ever on offer in a tennis tournament.
That purse represents a 15% increase from the $65 million offered at last year's US Open, and 2024 will be the 51st consecutive year in which the male and female players will receive equal prize money.

Prize money is calculated based on the round reached, until the tournament final, whose winner receives twice as much as the loser.
Here's how much money the singles players stand to earn over the next two weeks:
Round Prize First Round $100,000 Second Round $140,000 Third Round $215,000 Round of 16 $325,000 Quarterfinals $530,000 Semifinals $1,000,000 Runner-Up $1,800,000 Winner $3,600,000

The US Open offers a bigger total prize purse than the other three Grand Slam tournaments have in 2024. Based on currency-exchange figures at the dates of the events, Wimbledon offered about $64 million in prize money, with the French Open and Australian Open each giving out roughly $58 million.
Prize money in professional tennis has grown a lot in recent years. Total winnings handed out at the 2012 US Open was $25.5 million, for example.
Last year at the US Open, Coco Gauff won her first Grand Slam tournament, and Novak Djokovic earned his 24th, widening his record for the most Grand Slam titles by a male player in tennis history.
For players who mostly play in smaller tournaments where winnings could be just a few thousand dollars, making it into even the first round of a Grand Slam event like the US Open can be a huge windfall.
For example, the Australian player Li Tu is ranked No. 186 in the world and had made $90,253 in prize money this year entering the US Open. He made it into the tournament by winning three matches in the qualifying rounds. He then lost in the first round of the US Open but more than doubled his yearly earnings by receiving his $100,000 prize.
From the archives (September 2023): Coco Gauff was asked if she'll use her $3 million US Open winnings to pay off debt. Here's what she said.
Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury are the reigning men's doubles winners, and Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe were last years doubles champions on the women's side.
Here's the prize-money breakdown for men's and women's doubles at the 2024 US Open.
Round Prize First Round $25,000 Second Round $40,000 Third Round $63,000 Quarterfinals $110,000 Semifinals $190,000 Runner-Up $375,000 Winner $750,000
