TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has called a limited cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, to discuss government subsidy policies.

Transportation Minister Dudy Purwaghandi and Village Minister Yandri Susanto were among the first officials to arrive at the Presidential Palace around 13:30 local time. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 14:00 local time.

“We're invited to a meeting regarding various subsidy policies, including the cash assistance (BLT) subsidy through village funds. It may need to be coordinated and finalized,” said Yandri before the meeting.

Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka is also expected to attend the meeting, along with several coordinating ministers and technical ministers responsible for subsidy policies. 

These include Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf, Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, and Trade Minister Budi Santoso. In addition, representatives from state-owned oil and gas giant PT Pertamina and state-owned electricity firm PT PLN have been invited to participate in the discussions.

Previously, Prabowo stressed that subsidies and social assistance must reach those who truly need it. The Gerindra Party chief patron mentioned that digital technology will be used to achieve this goal.

“All subsidies and assistance must be directed towards those in need,” Prabowo said in his inaugural speech on October 20, 2024.
