RTX (RTX) unit Pratt & Whitney and Air New Zealand on Thursday broke ground on a $150 million, 14,000-square-meter expansion of the Christchurch Engine Center in New Zealand that will increase maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities for the GTF engine.
The companies said the facility is slated to have the capacity to overhaul 140 GTF engines a year by 2032.
The expansion begins this month with the first engine overhaul expected in Q4 2026.
