TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Manpower held a closed meeting over the past few days. Based on the information obtained by Tempo, the meeting discussed the 2025 minimum wage after the Constitutional Court revoked and revised 21 articles in the Job Creation Law (Omnibus Law). The last meeting took place on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, involving employers and labor unions in dialogue.
"There will be a ministerial regulation, but we are not certain about the issuance timeline," said Deputy Chairperson of the National Tripartite Committee (LKS Tripnas) from the labor union element, Apip Johan, after the meeting on Tuesday.
No agreements were reached during the meeting, Apip admitted, but the workers maintained their rejection of Government Regulation No. 51 of 2023 as the wage calculation standard. The labor union, according to Apip, still demands the inclusion of the Decent Living Needs (KHL) survey component in calculating wages. "Our friends in (LKS) Tripnas from the labor union have agreed on that," said Apip.
The issuance of a new Ministerial Regulation on wage calculation, according to Apip, is a direct directive from Prabowo Subianto delivered by the Minister of Manpower, Yassierli. This is due to the imminent deadlines for the determination of provincial minimum (UMP) and district/city minimum wages (UMK) to be set on November 21.
"He (Yassierli) conveyed that there is a directive from the President due to the time constraint," he said.
Meanwhile, the Director-General of Industrial Relations and Social Security of Workers (Dirjen PHI JSK), Indah Anggoro Putri, stated that yesterday's meeting was limited to social dialogue. The dialogue was conducted between three elements, namely workers, employers, and the government, to respond to the latest Constitutional Court decision regarding the Job Creation Law.
Indah herself denied that the meeting also discussed the Ministerial Regulation to regulate the 2025 minimum wage calculation. When asked about the possibility of issuing the Ministerial Regulation or the continuation of the wage calculation scheme after the Constitutional Court decision, Indah did not answer.
"The meeting did not concern the Minister of Manpower Regulation but more of a dialogue," said Indah when contacted via instant messaging application on Tuesday.
