Meituan (HKG:3690) is aiming to be among the first companies to offer drone delivery services in Hong Kong, the South China Morning Post reported Thursday.
The move is part of the Hong Kong government's bid for a low-altitude economy, the report said, citing remarks by Vice President Mao Yinian at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology on Saturday.
Meituan will join the Hong Kong government's regulatory sandbox for a low-altitude economy, the report said, citing Mao, who is also the head of the drone delivery unit.
Meituan already offers drone deliveries in big Chinese cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, the report said.
