CGS International Securities Singapore (CGS SG) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with MINDSG Ltd (MINDS), where CGSI will expand its financial literacy initiatives to people with persons with intellectual disability (PWIDs), caregivers and MINDS staff.
Under the MOU, CGS SG will provide the people at MINDS with essential financial literacy, covering topics such as currency recognition, basic transactions and simple arithmetic. CGS SG has already begun its pilot trial with 15 participants from MINDS.
Malcolm Koo, CEO of CGS SG, noted that the brokerage’s partnership with MINDS is a sign of its commitment towards its cause, which is to “achieve inclusive and equitable quality education in the area of financial literacy, and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for everyone”.
“Our motto, ‘Financial Literacy is for Everyone’, drives our efforts to reach underserved communities and equip them with necessary skills for financial independence,” he adds.
Kelvin Koh, CEO of MINDS welcomed the collaboration, calling the financial literacy training and engagement opportunities offered “crucial” to empowering PWIDs and enabling them to “lead independent, fulfilling lives, and enhancing their overall quality of life.”
The MOU was signed during the biennial MINDS Volunteers and Donors Appreciation Day (VDAD) on Nov 23 and was witnessed by Senior Minister of State at the Prime Minister’s Office, Desmond Tan.
