McDonald's, (MCD) El Pollo Loco, and other restaurant chains are being pushed by a shareholder advocacy group to improve food waste measurement and set reduction targets, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

The Accountability Board has submitted proposals at several companies, including BJ's Restaurants, Dollar General, and MTY Group, urging them to disclose food waste data and establish measurable, time-bound goals, the report said.

These proposals are set to be voted on at upcoming annual shareholder meetings, Bloomberg reported. None of the targeted companies currently disclose food waste metrics or reduction plans, it added.

The companies did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment, while MTY Group could not be immediately reached.

McDonald's shares rose 0.7% in recent trading.
